JOLTS Home

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) program of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) produces monthly and annual estimates of job openings, hires, and separations for the nation. The JOLTS program also produces monthly state estimates for all 50 states and the District of Columbia at the total nonfarm industry level.

West Virginia leads job openings rates in June 2025

West Virginia had the highest rate of openings in June 2025, at 6.0 percent, while Washington had the lowest job openings rate, at 3.7 percent. The lowest hires rate was in the District of Columbia, at 2.2 percent, and the highest was Montana’s rate of 4.9 percent. The District of Columbia and Pennsylvania had the lowest total separations rates, at 2.4 percent. Alaska’s total separations rate of 5.3 percent was the highest. read more »
